Last weekend, Flamengo's under-9, under-11 and under-13 futsal teams took to the court for the final qualifying round of the 2009 State Championship. Although the quarter-final spots were already filled, the red-and-blacks had the goal of finishing first in their respective groups.

The matches took place on Sunday (15/11) against teams from Mangueira. The Flamengo U-9 team was the only one to secure a 4-3 victory and first place in the group. The match, quite evenly matched, began with Flamengo opening the scoring in the first minute and a two-goal lead. Despite the opposing team's fightback, Flamengo prevailed on the court and secured the victory.

The under-11 team, despite drawing 2-2 with Mangueira, also managed to finish first in their group thanks to their excellent performance during the 2009 State Championship. In the first period, Mangueira used their defense as their main weapon against the red-and-black team, opening up a two-goal lead on counterattacks. However, in the second period, Flamengo remained on the offensive and managed to find holes in the opposing defense, finishing the game tied.

The only team from Gávea that didn't finish first in the group was the U-13 team, due to a 6-3 loss to Mangueira. Although the red-and-black team started with a win, they wasted numerous scoring chances and allowed the opposition to react, but they were successful in their shots.

Flamengo Futsal is now in the final stretch of the Championship, and the upcoming matches will be decisive for winning the State title. The quarterfinals will be played in two matches, one at home and the other away. In a knockout format, a draw will go into overtime, and the team with the better technical index will gain the advantage of victory.
