In the final stretch of the second round of the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Championship, and having qualified for the quarterfinals in all categories, the red-and-black kids return to the court next weekend. Saturday (May 29.05th), against Vasco, at São Januário, starting at 15 pm, will be the last game of the second round for the under-15 and under-17 categories.
With a chance of finishing the second half in first place in their group with a victory over Vasco, the Gávea U-15s are sure to have plenty of energy. The same goes for the U-17s, who, despite not being in a position to finish first in their group, will go all out against Vasco.
"The group is determined to win, especially given the rivalry between the two teams. We know it will be a tough game, decided by the details," said Flamengo coach Cláudio Popeye.
With only two rounds remaining to finish the first phase of the State Championship, against Helênico and Fluminense, the under-9, under-11 and under-13 categories will take to the court on Sunday (30.05), starting at 9 am, in Gávea. The objective is to qualify in first place in their respective groups.
"We're going to give opportunities to the kids who haven't been playing, because we have some starters suspended. Our focus is to win and gain the advantage of playing the second knockout match at home," said Luiz Antônio, futsal coordinator.
