Flamengo's adult futsal team returns to the court at 21 p.m. this Friday. After a week of intense activities at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, the Flamengo team plays its first match in the second round of this year's State Championship. Their opponent is Drogarias do Povo, whom coach Cid Escarlate's team mercilessly thrashed in their competition debut, 7-0. This time, however, a more evenly matched match is expected, after all, the match will be at their rival's home ground in Cabo Frio.
The Gávea team's opening match in the second round will be the second leg of a doubleheader. Everything will take place tomorrow night at the Cabo Frio municipal gymnasium. In the preliminary round, the home team, current state runners-up, will host Petrópolis at 19 p.m. Then, it's Flamengo's turn, the defending champion, to face ADDP.
For winger Diego Panazio, the thrashing in the first game of the competition is no benchmark for this first match of the second round. According to him, the team needs to enter focused on winning if they want to leave the Lakes Region with all three points.
"We have to approach every game as a decisive one; we can't think we have easy matches. Every match is important, and we have to give it our all. We thrashed Drogaria in the first round, but they've improved a lot in the competition. They're playing tough games against every team, and it won't be any different against us," the winger analyzed.
The red-and-black team's mission won't be easy. After all, coach Cid Escarlate will have significant absences for this Friday's game. Center Diego Carvalho, suspended, and captain Dudu, with a knee injury, will both miss the game.
Therefore, the team should enter the field with Rafael, Magrão, Michel, Panazio and Antony.
