The debut in the CONMEBOL Libertadores Bridgestone couldn't have gone better. After Flamengo's 4-0 victory over San Lorenzo, striker Gabriel, who scored the winning goal, spoke to journalists in the mixed zone at the Maracanã.
With a lot of hard work, the number 17 has been playing regularly for Zé Ricardo's team and performing well on the field, his effort rewarded with tonight's great goal. "I've always been used a lot here. Last year I was playing too. I've been getting opportunities, always looking to improve in training so that it pays off in the game. The coach has complete confidence in me," he praised.
Gabriel also spoke about the upcoming match in the competition, against Universidad Católica at the opponent's home ground. "Flamengo has to play the Flamengo way, always. It's a giant team, it has to maintain the same behavior at home or away. It has to play the same way against any team," said the striker, who guaranteed the team will seek victory in the match. "We are aware of our strength. A draw is for the end of the game, when you see that the match is complicated and then you go looking for the result, but Flamengo will go there looking for the victory," he added.
However, before the second round of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Bridgestone group stage, Mais Querido will face Portuguesa in their debut for the Taça Rio. The match will be played this Saturday (11), at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda, with kick-off at 18:30 pm.
