Replacing Leonardo Moura at Flamengo is no easy task, but young Rafael Galhardo says he's ready for the job. On Saturday, he'll start for the first time as a starter for the professional team and is excited to fulfill a childhood dream. Confident, the number 42 hopes for a good performance to fulfill the captain's role admirably.
Galhardo, who has also played as a midfielder in some matches for the first team and even the youth teams, says he feels comfortable playing in his original position. Considered an important player in creating plays, he knows he needs to play intelligently against Inter at the Engenhão stadium.
"I'm confident, I've been waiting for a chance like this for a long time and now it's here. I'm going to try to make the most of it. I'm used to playing like this, I play as a full-back, in midfield, and I'm calm. I know the responsibility of replacing Leo and I'm going to try to give my all," said the player, who says he's fulfilling a dream.
"It's extremely important for us to have a chance like this. I'm fulfilling a dream by having opportunities at Flamengo and especially by starting to play for the first time in the first team," he noted.
The player also became known for his ease in striking the ball, especially in set pieces. In the Eurofarma Junior Super Cup final, he scored two goals from free kicks and hopes, if given the chance, to repeat that success with the senior team.
"We worked well on set pieces not only to neutralize them defensively, but also to score goals up front, from free kicks and corners, because that's an important weapon in football today," he concluded.
