Flamengo's youngsters excited about Luxa's 'baggage'

Diego Maurício and Galhardo hope to learn as much as possible from their new coach.

Tired of hearing the old Flamengo maxim that Flamengo produces its own stars, the young players in the professional squad, all products of the club's youth academy, hope to grow even further in their careers under the guidance of Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Known for consistently revealing great talents for Brazilian football, the coach relies on talented and prepared youngsters who are ready for anything.

This is the case with Diego Maurício and Galhardo. Whether they are selected to start the game or not, the young players want to pay close attention to everything the coach asks of them, so they can learn the shortcuts of the football world.

"Vanderlei is a different kind of coach and I think we can learn a lot from him. He is experienced, has won a lot in football and hopefully he will achieve his goals here with us at Flamengo as well," said Galhardo, who is hoping to start against Internacional next Saturday (October 16.10), since Léo Moura is suspended.

Diego Maurício has already been getting opportunities with the new coach. Furthermore, the striker has also embraced the mindset that Luxemburgo has conveyed since taking over at Flamengo: aiming for the Copa Sudamericana.

"Professor Vanderlei motivated us a lot, and I think his arrival can only help. We're in a good moment; of course, we would have liked to have beaten Avaí, but it was four points in two games, and as he himself said, we have to continue on this path, thinking about the Copa Sudamericana. We have what it takes to get there," concluded Diego Maurício.
