Valuing homegrown players is a core policy of Flamengo's football. With several "Ninho Boys" on the roster, the "Mais Querido" (Flamengo's Favorite) has renewed its contract with another young athlete: midfielder Ronaldo.

Born in Itu, in the interior of São Paulo, the 19-year-old athlete arrived at Mais Querido in 2013 and since then has won a State Championship, a Guanabara Cup, a Rio Cup, an Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG) and, more recently, the São Paulo Junior Football Cup.

"I'm very happy to have renewed my contract with Flamengo; it shows the appreciation of the homegrown talent. These are new goals: learning from Muricy and making the most of opportunities when they arise," said the player.

For Rodrigo Caetano, executive director of football, the renewal is another step in the philosophy of valuing talent produced in-house.

"This renewal shows that Flamengo continues to value the young talents that won the Copinha. Nothing different from what was planned. We thank the athlete and his representative for understanding the project the club has for him," he concluded.
