The Flamengo youth team showed great commitment against Portuguesa, last Sunday (11), in an early game of the fifth round of the Carioca Championship. The team led by coach Bruno Pivetti created clear goal chances, mainly in the first half. After the break, the opponent improved their performance and opened the scoring. However, the Flamengo youngsters did not give up and equalized with a header from Iago, at 49 minutes of the second half.

The athletes' recovery was the focus in the period between games. Pivetti led the last training session before the match against Bangu, on Tuesday afternoon (13), at CT George Helal. Looking ahead to the next opponent, the coach praised the team's performance and added that he will make the final adjustments to the team.

"We experienced physical and mental exhaustion from chasing the result at the end of the game. The team was rewarded and scored the equalizer in the final minutes, a sign of the players' fighting spirit. Now it's about getting the players back in top shape to face Bangu. We still have one more training session to define the starting eleven, and the players will be well prepared," said Pivetti, who analyzed the team's performance in their Carioca debut.

"We had a significant amount of possession compared to our opponent, which we managed to convert into goal-scoring opportunities. Defensively, we have some adjustments to make, mainly in pressing higher up the pitch to make the team more compact and suffer less defensively."

After facing Bangu, in the first round of the Carioca, Flamengo will return to Volta Redonda to face the local team, on Saturday (17), at 21:30 pm.
