Gavilán arrives praising the fans
New reinforcement highlights the strength of the red-black squad.
By Flamengo Archive - inParaguayan Gavilán was officially presented this Thursday morning (03/01) as the new reinforcement for the red-black team for the 2008 season. The experienced player, who has already played in four Libertadores, arrived promising a lot of work on the field.
- "It's a huge responsibility to wear this Flamengo shirt. The club's history weighs heavily, and I'm very happy to be here today. I'll do my best to earn the fans' trust."
The former Grêmio player arrived highlighting the strength of the red-black squad.
- "Flamengo's squad is very strong. It's important that everyone works at a high level so Joel has good options. Flamengo benefits from this, as they have great players. I'm sure the season will be very good."
Playing at Maracanã supported by the red-black fans is a big dream for the Paraguayan player.
- "There's nothing to say about the fans. Everyone knows how strong they are, and I can't wait to be on the field supported by that crowd. But there's no point in having a great fan base if the results don't show on the field. We have to work to bring joy to Flamengo fans."
With extensive international experience, Gavilán is eager to wear the Flamengo shirt in the Copa Libertadores.
- "Playing in the Libertadores for Flamengo is a huge responsibility. In the Libertadores, everything counts. The Libertadores is won off the field as well as on the field. The important thing is to create obstacles for your opponents and take advantage of opportunities.
Gavilán is 27 years old and has played for Newcastle (England), Tecos (Mexico), Udinese (Italy), Newell's Old Boys (Argentina), Internacional and Grêmio.
