Goalkeepers eager to reunite with Diego
Lomba and Paulo Victor joke: "We can just win 1-0 so he doesn't get so sad"

The relationship between goalkeepers at a club is always intense. Players in this position always work separately from each other, and as a result, they end up developing a strong bond. This is the case with Marcelo Lomba and Paulo Victor, current Flamengo goalkeepers, with Diego, now at Ceará. Therefore, the Flamengo fans are eager to reunite with their former teammate next Saturday (August 14.08) at Maracanã.
Marcelo Lomba joked about the matchup. He assures that he's rooting for Diego's success in this new stage of his career, but he's confident in a victory over Ceará. Even if it's only 1-0, so as not to upset his former teammate too much.
"Diego is a great friend, a great goalkeeper, and he's having a great time at Ceará. His team has the best defense in the league, and I can only congratulate him and wish him all the best in his career. But I hope we can beat him on Sunday. Maybe 1-0 so he won't be so sad," he said.
Paulo Victor agrees. Despite his praise for Diego, with whom he's worked since his promotion to the professional team in 2007, when Flamengo and Ceará face off on the field, the three points will speak louder than friendship.
"Unfortunately, he's on the other side now. Diego is a very dear guy, who worked with me for four years and from whom I learned a lot. I have a lot of respect for him; he's a great goalkeeper, a really good guy, but now he's on the other side. So, I'm going along with Lomba. We can win one-nil. One little goal won't make him so sad (laughs)," he said.
In his seven years as a professional for Flamengo, from 2002 to 2009, Diego played 183 matches and scored 215 goals. In total, Diego spent 12 years at Gávea, where he started in the youth academy, and won 15 titles, both at the youth and professional levels.
