Goalkeepers praise unity within Flamengo's group
Lomba, Paulo Victor, Vinícius and Diego believe that a good relationship is essential for the group
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inThe goalkeepers are practically a team unto themselves within the red-and-black squad. Marcelo Lomba, Paulo Victor, Vinícius, and Diego Lima are always together, often doing different activities than the other players, and have a unique relationship. Because they spend more time together, they get to know each other better and become friends off the field as well.
"Our relationship is great. We're always together in training, Cantareli also really encourages this union, he works hard with us and it's normal for us to be quite close, especially because our work is often different from the activities that the other players do," said goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, currently the Rubro-Negro's starting goalkeeper.
Having grown up with Lomba at Flamengo since the youth teams, Paulo Victor is now the team's second goalkeeper and praises the chemistry between the goalkeepers in the red-black squad.
"Lomba and I are growing together here at Flamengo and we already have a really good rapport. It's important to work with people you like, and here we're always rooting for each other, supporting each other, and we know how important that is on the field too. This unity is fundamental," he stated.
Vinícius, signed from Boavista midway through this season, praised the environment he found upon arriving and said he has already adapted well to the pace of coach Cantareli and the good humor of his teammates.
"I was very well received, both by the players, the goalkeepers, and Cantareli, which made me very happy. I'm finding my place, working hard, and I'm very happy for this opportunity to wear the colors of Flamengo," he noted.
Apprenticeship - Diego Lima, who recently moved up to the professional ranks and had his first chance in the off-season, in Itu, believes that this is a time for learning and evolving in his career.
"For me, this learning experience is very important. It's a dream come true to reach the professional level at Flamengo, and now I want to continue in this vein. I have the support of the other goalkeepers, who were also raised here, and I'm very happy with all of this," he concluded.
