Gonzalo Plata is Mengão's newest addition
The 23-year-old Ecuadorian striker has signed a contract until August 2029.

Another striker in the box! Flamengo announced this Friday (30) the signing of Ecuadorian Gonzalo Plata, who was at Al-Sadd, from Qatar. The 23-year-old athlete signed a contract with Mengão until August 2029 and is another reinforcement for the disputes of the Brazilian Championship, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil.
A product of Ecuador's Independiente del Valle youth academy, Gonzalo Plata stood out from a young age as a highly skilled winger. At just 17, he made his senior debut. In 2019, the striker joined Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and attracted interest from clubs like Barcelona and Manchester City. In Europe, the Ecuadorian also played for Valladolid in Spain.
Plata was called up to the Ecuadorian national team for the 20 South American Under-2019 Championship, where he won. That same year, he also participated in the Under-20 World Cup, being named the third-best player in the competition.
