Flamengo had, this Wednesday (27), its first official test in 2016. And it did well. Guerrero broke the fast, scored twice and Mais Querido won away from home by 2 to 0. Flamengo returns to the field on Saturday (30), against Boavista, for the Campeonato Carioca.

The match started with a scare: Atlético headed the ball against the crossbar just one minute into the match. The Mais Querido (The Most Beloved) had their first chance in the fourth minute. Rodinei and Gabriel exchanged passes, and the striker was brought down on the edge of the box. The shot was in the box, but Atlético's defense cleared it. The home team started attacking more, but the red-and-black defense held the result. The score was almost broken in the 10th minute, when Giovanni Augusto received the ball alone inside the six-yard box and shot low, but Gabriel arrived with a sliding tackle and cleared the ball off the line. The Red-and-Blacks gradually grew and took the lead in attack. Éverton and Jorge created good chances on the left flank, and Guerrero capitalized on one, but the ball was stopped by the defense. The first half ended with the score unchanged.

The team returned from the break with no lineup changes, but the outlook for the game was even more favorable for the Gávea team. In the opening minutes, Jorge and Éverton played a beautiful one-two, and the number 22 had two good chances. Willian Arão made a good run in the 11th minute, and Emerson tried to capitalize but was fouled. In the 18th minute, Muricy made a game-changing change by bringing on Cirino. In the first play after the substitution, Willian Arão passed the ball to Guerrero, who shot powerfully, forcing Victor to make a good save. In the 22nd minute, the sadness ended: Guerrero passed the ball to Cirino, who advanced quickly and returned the favor. The number 9 fired a well-placed shot from the edge of the box, to an ecstatic cheer from the Flamengo fans. Ahead on the scoreboard, Flamengo gave the home team no room and continued to dominate the game. The score would be closed at the end of the match, in the 43rd minute. Emerson gave a long pass, Guerrero didn't hesitate and touched it into the corner: 2-0.
