"Guerrero - La Película" premieres in Peruvian cinemas

Feature film tells the story of the red-black number 9 and the Peruvian national team

"Guerrero - La Película" (Warrior - The Movie in free translation) was released this Thursday (8), in Peru. In choosing the date, a tribute to the uncle of the Peruvian striker, José Manuel González, who was goalkeeper for Alianza Lima when he died in a plane crash in 1987. On the screen, the story of the red-black number 9 and the Peruvian national team, who from a poor boy living in a humble neighborhood in Lima became the greatest football idol in his native country. 

Today, at 32 years old, 'El Depredador', as he is known in Peru, has 28 goals for his country and is the top scorer in the history of the Copa América.

"For me, it's a source of pride, a dream come true. Not everyone has the opportunity to be in a movie. I sacrificed a lot to be a professional player and realize my dream. Every day, ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to be a soccer player," said the striker in an interview with RPP radio and in an article by Agence France-Presse. 

Guerrero is the Rubro-Negro's top scorer this season, with 18 goals, and is expected to close the season with a record: the first foreigner to lead the club in this regard since Petkovic in 2000.
