Flamengo announced on Saturday night (30) the signing of right-back Guillermo Varela. The 29-year-old Uruguayan, who belongs to Dynamo Moscow, arrives on loan until May 2023. He is Mengão's fourth reinforcement in this transfer window and will be able to play with the Manto Sagrado in the Brazilian Championship and Libertadores disputes.

After excelling at Peñarol, Varela transferred to Manchester United in 2013 and made his professional debut in 2015. That same year, he played for Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan. Following his career, the right-back was signed by Dynamo Moscow in 2020, remaining until the first half of this year.

For the Uruguayan national team, he was runner-up at the 20 U-2013 World Cup and made his debut for the main team in a friendly against Poland in 2017.
