With football suspended due to the coronavirus, the red-black squad continues to exercise at home and also protect themselves. In an interview with FlaTV last Saturday (05), defender Gustavo Henrique explained how he is going through this difficult period, recalled his first game as a professional against Flamengo and highlighted the support of the fans. 

"My first professional game was against Flamengo. At the time, Santos was in the Libertadores semifinals, and I was already participating in training. The coach was Muricy. He gave me an opportunity on the reserve team. I remember we lost 1-0, but I played a great game, marking Vagner Love. I received a lot of praise from Muricy. We conceded a goal in the 45th minute of the second half, from a penalty," recalled Gustavo, in an interview with Flamengo's official online channel.

Quarantine period

"We're taking vacation time. We'll have to extend the schedule. It's always important to maintain physical fitness. I try to do some separate work at home. I set up a space here with some weights, and I do mobility and strength work. So that when we return, we won't have lost all of this fitness, so that we can maintain a good base so we don't suffer later on."

Support of the Nation  

"It's a very special feeling to step onto a historic field like Maracanã. Every player dreams of it, and I'm no different. You step in and feel the warmth of the fans. It excites and motivates us to bring them even more happiness. The feeling of scoring a goal in front of 60, 70 people is inexplicable. I scored that goal and was very happy, very emotional. I was really looking for that goal.
