The red-and-black team defeated Grêmio in the quarterfinals and comes into this match with a chance of reaching the Copa do Brasil final for the second consecutive time. Flamengo beat the Porto Alegre team 1-0 at the Maracanã Stadium after a 1-1 draw away from home.

"We'll do what we can. Everyone is firm, determined, using home advantage to our advantage, with our fans helping us immensely. We have the best home record in the Brazilian Championship. The Copa do Brasil is a different time, but our fans are a big help," said the coach before the match.

Throughout history, Flamengo and Corinthians have faced each other 131 times. Flamengo won 51 matches, suffered 52 losses, and had 28 draws, scoring 202 goals. This is only the second time the teams have faced each other in the Copa do Brasil. In 1989, the year of the competition's inaugural edition, the two teams faced off in the quarterfinals, with the Red-Blacks prevailing on away goals, winning 2-0 at Maracanã, with goals from Zico and Nando, and losing 4-2 at Pacaembu, with Galinho and Júnior scoring.

In the last match, Mais Querido beat the opposing team 1-0. Felipe Vizeu scored at Maracanã and secured the three points in the 2018 Brazilian Championship.
