Flamengo's standout goalkeeper Hugo Souza, who played a key role in the 2-1 Brazilian Championship victory over Fluminense at Maracanã, celebrated his excellent performance in a post-match interview. He made at least four spectacular saves and was named the match's best player.

"Thank God for this. God knows how hard I work, my family knows, my wife knows. Most importantly, the group knows how hard we work. Difficult times reveal great men. I faced it head on, I put my face on the line. I was able to play a great game. I showed why I'm at Flamengo. It will always be for Flamengo. I thank God. Without Him, none of this would have happened," said Hugo.

The red-and-black fans recognized Hugo's great performance and chanted the player's name.

   

Another standout for Flamengo in the victory was midfielder Andreas Pereira. He scored a stunning goal from outside the box and provided an assist (for Gabigol's goal). After the match, coach Paulo Sousa praised both players.

"These are two players who work every day to help our team win. In the match against Católica, Andreas had an extraordinary performance, and today (yesterday) he was as decisive as Hugo. What's also been crucial is the team's ability to find success. We've been working towards that, and with today's synergy, we've been able to achieve success. If we can maintain that, we'll be much closer to winning important titles," stated PS. 

Flamengo returns to the field on Sunday at 16 p.m. at the Maracanã stadium to face Fortaleza. The "Mais Querido" (Flamengo) is currently in eighth place in the Brasileirão with 12 points. They've now won two straight.
