The heroic and historic header against Grêmio in Flamengo's final match of 2009 didn't make Ronaldo Angelim lose his humility. Quite the opposite. Apparently, being the hero of the sixth national championship title made the number 4 even calmer and more cheerful. In a press conference after training on Monday afternoon, the defender joked about the possibility of being on the field on Wednesday against Volta Redonda and made himself available to coach Andrade.

Always humble and good-natured, Angelim assures that, despite not being fully physically ready, he is ready to take the field in the red-and-black team's next match in the 2010 Rio de Janeiro State Championship. The player even downplayed the importance of defenders in the red-and-black squad. According to him, the players who really make the difference are the players who play from midfield forward.

"A defender isn't really needed on the field. The coach puts him there and knows more or less what to do. The ones who make a difference are the striker and midfielder. I did the training session normally and I'm available. I'll leave it to his discretion, as he still has other options. There's Fabrício, Welinton...", said the sixth-time champion.

The early evening of December 6th remains in Ronaldo Angelim's memory, but the defender assures that the affection he received from the fans and the euphoria of winning the national title are now a thing of the past. After all, the number 4 still has a year and a half left on his Flamengo contract and is focused solely on winning more titles.

"I'm sure this squad can make 2010 even better than 2009. Of course, I'm very happy with the recognition, for having scored the winning goal, but if it weren't for the work of the entire group, we wouldn't have won the title. And that's also in the past. Now it's time to think about the season, which has important competitions, and work hard to win the titles we want," he noted.
