Ibson calls on the red-black fans
“It's a special game for us, because we need to win at all costs to bring joy to our fans, who deserve it so much.”
By Flamengo Archive - inRaised in the Flamengo youth ranks, Ibson, a supporter, knows that the Flamengo fans play a crucial role in the team's games at Maracanã. Aware of the challenges Flamengo will face on Sunday against Goiás, the number 7 asked for the support of the Flamengo nation for the final game of the season in Rio de Janeiro.
"There are two games left, and we're asking for the fans' support to encourage us because it's important for us to continue fighting for the Libertadores. It's the last game of the year at Maracanã. It's special for us because we need to win at any cost to bring joy to our fans, who deserve it so much. Despite the stumbles in a few games, I'm sure we'll have their support again and bring them joy."
For Ibson, Flamengo will be very attacking in the match, even with midfielder Toró's introduction in midfield. He made a point of praising the opposing team's quality.
"Toró knows how to play well, and that gives us the confidence that we'll be very attacking. We're facing a very good team, with two excellent full-backs, and also with quality in the middle, with Romerito and Paulo Baier. Iarley is also very good up front. The team has a lot of talent, but Paulo Baier is the player to mark."
Ibson celebrated his nomination for the 2008 Brasileirão Player of the Year award.
"I always work calmly, I try to stay cheerful and willing to help everyone, no matter the situation. With this calmness and the support of my family, I've overcome difficult times and now I have the chance to compete again as the best in my position," said the player, who last year won the award for best right midfielder.
