Flamengo reaches the semifinals once again and is increasingly counting on the experience of its key players. Adriano, who returned to training this Friday (April 09.04) after a five-day layoff, is one of those players. Having scored 11 goals for the team in the championship, he doesn't care about personal achievements.
Second top scorer in the State Championship, behind only his attacking partner Vagner Love, who scored 12 times, the Emperor confessed that this feat is not his priority.
"I don't think about scoring goals. I don't chase that. As a striker, I like to score goals and I need to score them. But my greatest happiness is seeing the team do well. If everyone is doing well, I'll be happy. Goals are natural. They eventually come. I hope that happens on Sunday and I can score again," said the number 10.
Since returning to Flamengo, Adriano has scored 31 goals in 41 games. While happy with his performance on the field, he hasn't yet found the net with his right foot, but he's working on it.
"I didn't know about that average, but of course, I'm very happy with it. I want to keep scoring goals to help Flamengo. The most important thing is that I'm happy and I'll go out on the field like that. As for the problem with my right leg, I can guarantee that it's just bad aim. It has the same strength as my left and receives the same attention in training," concluded the Emperor.
When asked about the lack of celebrations after his goals, Adriano made a point of rejecting any kind of retaliation. According to him, each player has their own way of acting after putting the ball in the back of the net.
"I didn't stop celebrating. Everyone has their own way of doing it. It's a moment when I'm very happy, yes. On Sunday I can score a goal and celebrate. Or not," he joked.
