Top scorer in Flamengo's sixth championship, Emperor Adriano could secure his place in the 2010 World Cup this Tuesday (02.03). Called up to the Brazilian national team, the striker missed the Rubro-negro's debut in the Rio Cup, last Saturday, as he reported to coach Dunga, in London, this Sunday (28.02). And he already arrived with good news.
Adriano is expected to be the Brazilian coach's choice to replace his teammate Luís Fabiano, who is out due to injury, in the friendly against Ireland and is already living up to expectations.
"I'm having a good time at Flamengo and I'm feeling good. I'm getting another chance with the Brazilian national team and I believe this is a game to seal my World Cup ticket. That's what I hope to do here," said Adriano.
Since returning to Flamengo last year, the Emperor has scored 24 goals and lifted the Brazilian Championship trophy. He was also the competition's top scorer with 19 goals and was named best striker.
Like Adriano, five-time champion Kleberson is also on international duty with the Brazilian national team. Neither will be on the field on Wednesday (February 03.02) to defend Flamengo against Madureira. They will only be available to coach Andrade for next Saturday's match (March 06.03) against Resende in Volta Redonda.
