Flamengo achieved its biggest victory in the Brazilian championship since 2011 by beating Chapecoense 5-1 at Ilha do Urubu. With two goals from Diego and three from striker Paolo Guerrero, the victory – and, obviously, the performance of the Flamengo number nine – was highlighted in Peruvian sports newspapers.

The newspaper Diario El Bocón featured Guerrero on its front page stating that he is "passionate about scoring goals." Meanwhile, Depor called Paolo "TRImendo goleador" (a playful reference to his three goals). The publication also calls the number nine a star player and projects a similar performance for the Peruvian National Team in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

Libero, Peru's largest sports newspaper, also played with the word "Tri": it featured a photo of Guerrero on its cover with the words "FantásTRIco" (Fantastic Trio). The publication drew attention to Flamengo's "tremendous victory over Chapecoense".

Not only the press, but also the Peruvian public repeatedly show their affection for Guerrero, Trauco, and Flamengo. On the club's social media profiles, the number of followers from the country is constantly growing. On Facebook, for example, Peru ranks second among countries with the most likes, with over 120 – behind only Brazil.
