David reveals that his dream of becoming a footballer began at the 1994 World Cup

Defender David's Twitter comments have been a huge hit with Flamengo fans for some time now. But during the World Cup, the player has been gaining even more followers on his profile on the microblogging site. The Gávea player's number 14 has been commenting on the World Cup in South Africa on the page, and in one of his latest posts, he revealed a good story about the World Cup.
In an interview with Flamengo's official website, David gave more details about what he revealed to his followers: it was thanks to the 1994 World Cup in the United States that he became a big football fan and began to dream of living as an athlete.
"I have a really cool story with the World Cup. It was definitely in 1994 that I started dreaming more about being a soccer player. I was a huge fan of Ayrton Senna and was deeply affected by his death. But that World Cup, with Romário, Taffarel... it was a great way to try to ease that pain a little. Today, watching the World Cup, I remember it very fondly," he recalled.
Watching the 2010 World Cup games whenever possible, the defender reveals that he is happy not only for the spirit of the World Cup, but also for the fact that the tournament is being played in Africa.
"I'm really enjoying the World Cup. I'm happy for the African people. Seeing their joy is really cool. The people there have suffered a lot and deserve this opportunity. I do believe in Brazil and I'm rooting for the sixth title," said the defender, who, back at work for Flamengo, is already dreaming of the 2011 Copa Libertadores.
"Expectations are the best possible. We'll work hard to get Flamengo back into the top four, and we want to lead the club to another Copa Libertadores next year. It's with this mindset that we're returning to training, and we're completely confident that we can achieve this goal," he concluded.
