A product of Flamengo's youth academy, striker Diego Maurício had a great night last Wednesday (September 15.09), scoring Flamengo's first goal in the comeback victory over Grêmio Prudente. He identifies with the club and knows the fans' demand for better results is strong, and he offers the recipe for success: if quality doesn't work, it has to be based on will.
"When technique doesn't work, it's grit. That's what we strive for at all times. Our group is tight, united, striving for something better in the championship. That's Flamengo! Grit, love, and passion," he said.
The player also revealed that he enjoys being in constant contact with the red-black fans, especially through his profile on the microblogging site Twitter.
"I'm always online. I think because I'm new, I'm always interacting with the fans. The fans have been helping me a lot, giving me confidence," said the number 49, who highlighted the importance of the victory over Prudente and called on the fans to fill the Engenhão on Sunday (19.09).
"We've needed this victory for a long time. We've been without a win for seven games. Nothing better than a victory to lift our team, bring the fans back to our side and fill the Engenhão stadium," he added.
