After the 2-2 draw with Chapecoense, on Wednesday night (25) in Volta Redonda, Flamengo's interim coach, Jayme de Almeida, analyzed the team in a press conference. He lamented the missed opportunities, spoke about the opponent and highlighted that the team felt the loss of captain Juan, even at the beginning of the game.
Formation of Chapecoense and Juan
The opponent's formation, which we all knew would come out defensive, on the counterattack. We had to control the game, avoid counterattacks, and we did that well in the first half. We were 1-0 up, but the referee was unfortunate enough not to call a foul and a penalty, and Juan was injured. The team felt the impact.
Complicated game
"It was a tough game. We weren't going to have a lot of chances, but when we did, we took advantage of one and missed another (referring to Marcelo Cirino's good showing in the first half). We conceded a goal that, honestly, is hard to understand. But I'm not going to dwell on that.
Now, Flamengo faces Ponte Preta, next Sunday (29), at 11 am, in Campinas. Rubro-Negro has four points in the 2016 Brasileirão classification table.
