Next Saturday (May 02.05), Flamengo takes to the field at Romeirão Stadium in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, to face Icasa in a friendly match that serves as preparation for the Brazilian Championship. Out of the finals of the Ceará Championship, Icasa is also preparing for the start of the national championship, where it will compete in this year's Série C. The teams meet again after their only previous meeting, in the 1970s, with two characters in common from their first encounter. Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo and his assistant coach, Jayme de Almeida, played all 90 minutes of the game in that 1970s rout.
"It was one of the first friendlies we played that year, as the team was being assembled for the championship. We were welcomed, as is typical even at that time, by the Flamengo fans. It was fantastic, we were very well received. The result was atypical, 7-1, but we had a great team, with a lot of attacking power. We played a great game and the affection of the nation was incredible. I didn't have this idea yet, I was just starting out at the club, so getting to know the city and the people there was really cool. It was a very new and memorable experience for me," recalled Jayme de Almeida.

On February 10, 1974, Flamengo faced the Ceará team, also in a friendly match. On that occasion, in a match played at Mauro Sampaio Stadium in Fortaleza, Flamengo emerged victorious with a huge 7-1 lead. The score reflected the quality of the red-and-black stars on the field: Zico and Dario scored three times each, and Paulinho Carioca rounded off the scoring.
