After training this afternoon at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis, Flamengo's vice-president of football, Kleber Leite, announced to the press that coach Joel Santana will transfer to the South African national team after the Carioca Championship final.

"Joel transferred to the South African national team after the Carioca Championship final. We spoke yesterday afternoon, and he told me he'll earn in 30 months what he didn't earn in 30 years of his career. Given the affection Flamengo has for him, there was no way I wouldn't let him go. He dreams of leading a national team to a World Cup."

Joel was emotional about leaving Gávea, but he wants the Rio title to close out his cycle with a flourish.

"It's the kind of offer you only get once in a lifetime. Playing in a World Cup is every professional's dream. I'm leaving with a heavy heart. It's a decision much more professional than emotional. I even joked with the players, saying they're to blame. This transfer was only possible because of the team's strong performance. If we win the Rio de Janeiro title, it will be very special. I'll continue to support the club and all the players."
