Even with yesterday's defeat against América-MEX, coach Joel Santana has reason to celebrate his fourth stint at Gávea, having won 65% of the points contested.

"Daddy Joel", as he is affectionately called by the players, took over Flamengo in August 2007, when the team was in the relegation zone of the Brazilian Championship, and with a sensational campaign, he won third place and a place in the Copa Libertadores.

In 2008, he led Flamengo to its second state championship. With the title, the red-and-black team reached the 30th state championship, equaling rival Fluminense.
