Joel doesn't want accommodation
Coach demands victory in front of the fans.
By Flamengo Archive - inWith a 100% record in the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo returns to the field tomorrow at Maracanã to face Volta Redonda in a sixth-round match. After training this Wednesday morning, manager Joel Santana made it clear that the squad is not complacent, even with qualification for the next stage already assured.
- "Here at Flamengo, there's no slacking off. We want to maintain this unbeaten run against Volta Redonda. We have one of the best attacks in the Championship and the tightest defense. We have to keep this morale high. We'll play in front of our fans, and they always deserve victories."
The red-and-black team will make four changes to its lineup compared to the match against América. Diego Tardelli, Luizinho, Kleberson, and Rodrigo will all start. Joel made a point of praising the team's quality.
- "Everyone here will have opportunities. Our squad is very qualified, and this type of rotation is normal, to give all the players playing rhythm. Those who are coming in now have to maintain the same quality that the team has been showing."
For Joel, every player in the squad has their importance, and he cites striker Obina as an example.
- "Everyone here is very important. Take Obina. Whenever we need him, he's there to help. He's a wildcard player who can come in at any moment."
