On the eve of Sunday's Guanabara Cup final against Botafogo at the Maracanã, coach Joel Santana organized a training session to prepare the red-and-black team. The coach made several changes to the lineup during the starters' 4-1 victory.

In the first part of the session, Joel fielded a highly attacking team with Bruno, Léo Moura, Fábio Luciano, Ronaldo Angelim, and Juan; Cristian, Ibson, Kleberson, and Marcinho; and Obina and Souza. With this formation, the starting lineup won 1-0, with Fábio Luciano scoring a header.

In the second half, the manager made several changes to the team, returning to a midfield with Jailton, Cristian, Ibson, and Toró, and taking off Obina for Marcinho. The starters scored another goal, with Léo Moura, but Diego Tardelli pulled one back for the substitutes. Late in the session, Joel tested Diego Tardelli in Marcinho's place, and the team scored two more goals, with Tardelli himself and Cristian.
