Flamengo's poor performance in Saturday's 3-0 loss to Internacional in the Brazilian Championship prompted immediate changes to its starting lineup. During Monday morning's training session at Gávea, coach Joel Santana tested a new formation.

After an hour of conversation with the players in the locker room, Joel came onto the field and began the training session with Jaílton among the starters, replacing Ibson, who was injured in the game in Porto Alegre. He then brought on defenders Marlon and Obina and kept Renato Augusto's positioning up front, making the formation three defenders and three forwards.

At the beginning of training the team played with Bruno, Léo Moura, Fábio Luciano, Ronaldo Angelim and Juan; Rômulo, Jaílton, Cristian and Toró; Renato Augusto and Souza.

"The team didn't do well and I'm trying to make changes. We need to learn that we can't play away from home the same way we did at Maracanã. They were warned, but they didn't follow some rules and that's what happened," commented Joel, who set the tone for the dressing room scolding on Monday morning.

"I told them it's ridiculous that we depend on one less red card than Atlético-PR to stay out of the relegation zone."
