Players approve the new uniform line
After attacking the model, Kleberson and David praise Flamengo's new shirt
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inBy all indications, Flamengo's new uniforms for the 2010 season have already become a hit. At least among the players, they've been a big hit. A lot. Midfielder Kleberson and defender David, models of the number one and number two jerseys, respectively, at the launch of the new line, held this Friday in Gávea, approved of the new versions of the Manto Sagrado. Neither believes it has much of a future as a model, however, both are confident of many victories wearing the jersey.
\Kleberson donned the red-and-black jersey, and the Sacred Mantle was full of praise, both for its design and for the representation it brought to the player's career, as he won two-time Rio de Janeiro state champion and a Brazilian championship with Flamengo.
\"It's not because I wore it, but I personally really liked the red and black shirt. It's a special shirt for me, one that marked my career, and the new model is very beautiful. I'm sure the fans will like it too," said the player, who revealed that he has had the experience of being a model on other occasions.
\David, who posed in the white shirt, which features an innovative layout, said he isn't very good at the catwalk, however, like his partner, he approved of the new uniform.
\"I thought the shirt was lighter and also very pretty. I liked it, and I hope the fans like it too. Modeling isn't my strong suit, and I hope we can win in the first game with it on Wednesday. I'm not superstitious or anything, but it's always good to start off on the right foot," he said.
\In good humor, David mocked his teammates Kleberson and Bruno. According to him, neither of them is cut out for modeling. The five-time world champion, in turn, stated that he prefers a packed Maracanã stadium to the catwalk.
\"I'm not very good at it. I even talked to the people back there. I prefer 50, 60 thousand people pushing in the stadium than parading (laughs)," he joked.
\The number one jersey is already on sale, while the number two and goalkeeper jerseys will begin arriving at the end of next week. Flamengo fans will be able to watch the team wear the new official jersey next Wednesday, the 24th, in the team's Copa Libertadores debut against Universidad Católica at the Maracanã stadium.
