Flamengo players celebrate "Flamengo Fan Day"
Leonardo Moura and Diego Maurício highlight the importance of the commemorative date for the institution
By From the official website team - inThere are many unforgettable dates in the minds of Flamengo fans. December 13th, for example, is remembered as the day Flamengo won the World Cup. Recently, the 6th of the same month made history with the sixth title. To symbolize them all, Flamengo Fan Day was created on October 28th.
On the day of the club's patron saint, Saint Jude Thaddeus, the red-and-black fans also have their own commemorative date. It's the day, as is true on all other days, to proudly put on their jersey and take to the streets to show their passion for the red and black. The players, like captain Leonardo Moura, approve of the measure.
"It's great for Flamengo fans to have this day. It really should have happened; it's a well-deserved day for the entire nation to celebrate. As a Flamengo fan, I made a point of congratulating Flamengo fans today on Twitter, and besides the fans, there's the club itself, which is very successful, with players who are quick to identify," said the captain.
Striker Diego Maurício, a product of the club's youth academy, says the date reminds him of everything he went through to reach Flamengo's current first team and thanks God for the opportunities.
"It's a very important day. It's a date that ends up moving all of Brazil, with the millions of members of this wonderful Flamengo fan base, who help us so much. Flamengo is a victorious institution and this day makes me remember the overcoming I had. I thank God that everything is working out and I really hope to help the club even more," said the number 49, who sent a message to the fans.
"Every Flamengo fan who loves the club, always support the team, because you are very important. Congratulations to all the fans and I am very happy to have you by my side," he concluded.
