Flamengo fans weren't the only ones who wanted the three points against Vitória this Saturday (11/09). More than anyone else, the players from the Rio de Janeiro club were desperate for a positive result and, to achieve this, they gave their all on the field. However, the victory didn't come and we were left with the feeling that everything could have happened differently.
Highly demanded, especially after left-back Juan was injured and was unable to continue playing his role on the field, midfielder Toró explained the team's feelings at the end of the match against Vitória.
"Everyone helps each other here at Flamengo. It couldn't have been any different. It was another game in which we didn't play badly, but we couldn't win. We really wanted the win, we did everything we could, but it didn't come. Now we have to work to make it happen in the next round," he said.
Another midfielder who performed very well on the field, running all over the place, was Correa. And like Toró, he left lamenting the opponent's luck and Flamengo's lack of that 'factor'.
"We kicked balls into the penalty area and they hit the post. It's impressive. The opponent can hit them and we can't. We played well. It wasn't ideal, we wanted the win, but you can see we're working the right way. Today we showed resilience. We fell behind and looked for a draw," said Correa.
New to the team this Saturday, defender David agreed with his teammates' words and emphasized that patience will be an ally in the upcoming rounds.
"The way forward is to keep working hard. We know the situation is delicate, but we played well. We need to be patient and positive results will come again," he concluded.
