In the 24th round of the Brazilian Championship, Mengão defeated Vitória at Barradão Stadium, continuing their pursuit of the top spot. After falling behind, Fernandinho and Gabriel scored for Flamengo to secure the victory. Flamengo is second in the standings with 43 points. After the match, Gabriel, who scored the second goal, spoke about the game.

"Scoring a goal is always important, against Vitória too, because I was raised and support Bahia. Flamengo has a wonderful fan base and we have everything we need to have a wonderful final stretch," said the Bahia striker.
