Jonas predicts a classic against Botafogo: "We have to evolve"

On Friday morning (02), preparations for tomorrow's classic against Botafogo were completed with tactical training at Ninho do Urubu. After the activity, midfielder Jonas appeared at the Victorino Chermont Press Room to give a press conference. The match will come after the red-black debut in the Conmebol Libertadores.

In the match in question, played against River Plate of Argentina, Flamengo conceded a 2-2 draw in the 41st minute of the second half, despite a strong performance in the second half. Jonas commented on the impact of the result on the next match, which will also take place at the Nilton Santos stadium.

"We knew it would be a tough game, especially since River Plate is a great opponent. In these big games, we can't afford to make mistakes. Unfortunately, we did twice, but we're working to fix that. We can't go ahead twice and let them draw. We know that in the Libertadores, one mistake can affect the result," he emphasized.

The lessons learned have been absorbed, and the page is turned for the important derby for the Rio Cup. The midfielder says there's only one recipe for victory. "We have to evolve. We won't always be perfect, so some details need to be adjusted. We need to work hard to achieve a positive result," he stated.

Regarding the match, Jonas emphasized the need to focus on performance. The number 14 also commented on the changes in coaching management.

"Regardless of the coach or the opponent, we know we have to play a great game and go after a positive result. We know the team. There have been some changes, but that won't affect us. We just have to put into practice what we've been working on every day, and I'm sure we'll get a good result," he concluded.
