He arrived, wore the Manto and spoke for the first time as a Mengão player. Early in the afternoon of this Saturday (7), midfielder Jorginho was officially presented at CT George Helal and gave a press conference to talk about his return to Brazil, his choice for Flamengo and other matters.

"After so long away, this opportunity came along. It was just the right time. Returning to my country after so many years surprised me a bit, but I'm very happy with this opportunity. I want to live the best life possible, and a club like Flamengo gives you the motivation and desire to do so. The quality of the squad, the coach, and the support of this wonderful nation that I've always followed from afar."

Choose Flamengo
"I believe the time has come to return and make my mark in the country where I was born and raised. I had never played here before. After playing for two important countries and leaving my legacy there, I had this desire to return and make my mark in my own country. Choosing Flamengo today is easy. I believe it's a club and the squad with characteristics, both players and coach, that fit well with my own. It was the best choice."

Club World Cup
"The desire to experience all this here is so great that we end up doing a lot. I'm very happy with the decision I made. And the expectations for the World Cup are huge. It's an international competition that I really want to play in too. I believe that's it (to terminate my contract with Arsenal in time to play in the World Cup)." 

Debut with the Mantle
"My condition is something I'll figure out in the next few days. I had a layoff, my last game was on May 25th, but I've had all the tests and trained today. I'm feeling good and really eager to play. The question of playing 90 minutes and starting is no longer up to me (laughs)."

"I wear the number 21 jersey for several reasons. I received a list of available numbers and was torn between one or two. I chose 21 because it was the most important year of my career, with all the achievements that brought me the greatest joy. I hope the number brings me luck so I can have many joys wearing this jersey. It's the area code of Rio de Janeiro, the birth date of one of my children... It's a number that has been, is, and will always be very special to me."
