There's news at Mengão! It's midfielder Jorginho, who was previously at Arsenal (ENG). The 33-year-old signed a contract with the club until July 2028 and will be strengthening the squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. At Flamengo, the player will wear the number 21 on his jersey.
A native of Imbituba, Santa Catarina, Jorginho left Brazil while still in the youth ranks in 2008 to play for Hellas Verona in Italy. In the European country, he obtained Italian citizenship and excelled at Napoli, where he remained for four seasons and won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.
In 2018, he transferred to Chelsea in England, where he excelled for five seasons. He won the 2019 Europa League against Arsenal and, in 2021, won the UEFA Super Cup, being named the best player in the final. He was also part of the squad that won the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, as champions of the 2020/21 season.
In early 2023, Jorginho transferred to Arsenal, the club he played for until the end of the last European season. With the Italian national team, he won the Euro 2020 title.

Jorginho's first match for the Sacred Mantle will be at the Club World Cup. The Red-Blacks will debut in the competition against Tunisia's Espérance on June 16th at 22 pm (Brasília time) in Philadelphia. DAZN will broadcast all World Cup matches live.
And don't miss it! Jorginho, Mengão's new signing, will be officially presented this Saturday (7), at CT George Helal. Watch live on Flamengo TV!
