Josiel hoping for a spot among the starters
"Since I arrived here, I've been working to be a starter. Whenever Cuca needs me, I'll be ready to help."
By Flamengo Archive - inFlamengo's top scorer in the Campeonato Carioca with four goals, forward Josiel is hoping to earn a starting spot for the red-and-black team. After this morning's physical training session, the number 9 said he will continue working hard and that the decision regarding a starting spot in the team is in the hands of coach Cuca.
"I've been waiting for this opportunity. Since I arrived at Flamengo, I've been working hard to earn this starting spot. Whenever Cuca needs me, I'll be ready to help. I'm getting more opportunities than before, which makes me very happy. I hope to earn the fans' trust once and for all."
A standout for Flamengo in recent games, Josiel believes he can do much better as a starter.
"The difference when you start playing is that you have many more opportunities. I've been playing for twenty minutes and the opportunities are fewer. By playing for ninety minutes, I have more chances to create and score goals. The most important thing is that the opportunities are appearing and the goals are coming."
Josiel said he is happy with his current situation, but regretted Flamengo's elimination from the Guanabara Cup.
"It's over. Unfortunately, we didn't have the Carnival we would have liked. But now it's time to move forward. We have the Rio Cup and the Copa do Brasil as our next challenges. We have everything we need to turn things around and win these tournaments."
