Josiel dreams of artillery
The striker is one of Flamengo's weapons for the match against Americano, tomorrow, in Campos.
By Flamengo Archive - inThe top scorer in the Campeonato Carioca with 11 goals, striker Josiel has been confirmed by coach Cuca for Tuesday's match against Americano in Campos. Happy with his good form, the red-and-black number 9 hopes to maintain his strong scoring average and help the team from Gávea secure another victory in this Taça Rio.
"I'm happy because the goals are coming. The balls are going in, and now it's all up to me. I know it's my responsibility to score the team's goals. I was hired last year for that. I've always been calm, ever since last year, when I had few opportunities and didn't score. I always knew I would score again; no one forgets. I'm averaging well, and now I have to maintain that and fight for the top scorer position. But the most important thing is for Flamengo to win this title."
Top scorer in the 2007 Brazilian Championship with 20 goals, Josiel says he is calm about the pressure of being Flamengo's top scorer.
"I'm very calm about it. It's nothing new for me, because I've always been a top scorer wherever I've been. I know the responsibility is huge, but I'm prepared. The goals have to be shared with the whole team. I have to thank my teammates for their passes and the commitment they're showing. My family is also happy with my goals. I call them after games, and everyone is always happy. It's completely different from last year, when my family suffered a lot."
