He had barely arrived and was already a Brazilian champion, scoring a goal in the last round. There was no way around it. He got spoiled. With the fans' affection, the recognition and, of course, the achievements. That's why the year 2010 ended up taking away some of the already traditional smiles from David's face.
When analyzing the past year, there's a lot of seriousness and learning from mistakes. But as soon as we talk about 2011 and the future, the good humor returns. And the confidence too. Considered a strong contender to be a starter for the Flamengo team next season, the defender believes that Flamengo has everything it needs to turn things around.
"We know it wasn't what we wanted. We had some problems and ended up in this bad situation in the Brazilian Championship. The season wasn't good, but the ending was happy and we'll be able to go to the Copa Sudamericana, fighting for four titles next year. We want to recover and we're going to pursue those achievements," he assures.
David, a player with great fan support, especially due to his good relationship with them on the microblogging site Twitter, thanks the fans for their continued support and promises to do everything to repay the Nation that missed lifting a trophy in 2010.
"We know the strength of Flamengo's fans. Now we need to forget this year, not make the same mistakes next year, so we can bring joy to them, who are always with us," he noted.
Calm and humble, David knows there are no guaranteed spots on the Flamengo team and says it all depends on each player earning opportunities with coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. He already knows how to win over the manager: with hard work.
"I hope to return in good shape for the preseason, show my work, and I'm available to the coach. I want to help Flamengo in any way I can. I'll do my best to help the team win titles," he added.
