BRASILIA - Thursday night (25.03) was special for three Flamengo players. Youngsters Paulo Victor, Guilherme Camacho and Carlyle shone in the 3-0 victory over Brasília FC, in a friendly match played at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in the federal capital. The goalkeeper saved a penalty, the midfielder scored a great goal, and the local fans' favorite closed out the rout.
The comparison with Bruno was inevitable. In the second half of the friendly, the home team was awarded a penalty. However, the support was all for Paulo Victor. Felipe stepped up to take the shot, and the red-and-black goalkeeper didn't disappoint. He flew into the right corner and made the save, much to the delight of the fans, who chanted his name.
"Our daily work is reflected in the game. Roberto passes things on to us, studies and gives us the correct positioning to get to the ball. Rarely does a penalty of ours come back, I did it and I was happy. I enjoyed it, the fans chanted my name, we didn't concede any goals... It was very good," said Paulo, 22.
Camacho, who turns 20 in 2010, was another standout. The number 8 played a strong role in the midfield, distributed some excellent passes, and capped off his impressive performance with a stunning goal in the second half.
"It was a really nice play, but the important thing is that the whole team played well, even without much chemistry. I hope I pleased everyone," said the player.
However, no one left the stadium happier than Carlyle. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder returned to the city where he rose to prominence and performed well. Cheered on by the fans, he didn't feel the pressure and scored his third goal in the victory.
"I'm very happy with this affection. I really didn't expect it, and it was also great to have entered the field and scored a goal," he concluded.
