Left-back Juan returned to Gávea on Thursday afternoon in a fine state. Considered by critics to be Flamengo's best player in Wednesday's 4-0 rout of Juventude at Maracanã, the player said he is experiencing the best phase of his professional career.

"I'm having the best time of my career. I believe one of the main factors is my physical condition. I did the entire preseason, which was very good, and I got a good foundation for the year. Before, I would finish games very tired and sometimes not go into the next one fully recovered from the fatigue. Now things are different, and because of that, I'm able to perform at my best in most matches."

The player also commented on the important role Flamengo's squad plays in his current form: "My teammates, of course, help me a lot. Although I also score some goals, I'm much more of a service player. There'd be no point in putting the ball on Obina's head, for example, if he missed the shot. The goal wouldn't come and my work wouldn't be as appreciated," he explained.

Despite being happy with the victory, Juan made it clear that Flamengo is still far from enjoying a comfortable position in the Brazilian Championship. And, for that reason, he assured that there is no euphoria among the group.

"We're happy with the result and aware that we're closer to leaving the relegation zone, but there's no atmosphere of complacency here. The victory was good and we'll try to get another positive result against Goiás on Sunday, but we're keeping our feet on the ground."
