Left-back Juan won the Bola de Prata award from Placar magazine and ESPN Brasil as the best left-back in the 2008 Brazilian Championship. Gávea's number 6 was one of the highlights of the red-black campaign in the competition.

Juan is still in the running for the 2008 Brazilian Championship Player of the Year and the Fans' Player of the Year awards.
