The Flamengo players received the 2008 Brasileirão Player of the Year Award on Monday at the competition's closing ceremony. Runner-up in 2007, Juan won the award for the first time in his career. Léo Moura, meanwhile, confirmed his dominance at right-back in Brazilian football, winning the award for the second consecutive time.

Fábio Luciano finished third in the race for best right-back. Ronaldo Angelim finished second in his position, trailing only São Paulo's Miranda. Ibson received the award for third-best right-back in the Brazilian Championship.
