Since arriving at Gávea in 2006, Juan has become one of the most important players for the Flamengo team. He's had his ups and downs, it's true, but he's always held the number six jersey and played at left back for Flamengo. In 2009, he suffered a serious knee injury that hampered his performance, but in 2010, he hopes to make significant progress and return to the level that established him as one of the best in the country at his position.

The player has already had strong performances for Flamengo this year. In the match against Olaria, for example, in which Flamengo drew 3-3, he provided two excellent assists: one for Adriano and another for Vagner Love. The number six hopes to continue his work and dreams of an even better season.

"Last year was very difficult for me. This year I came back better, both physically and technically, and I hope to return to the performance I had before the knee injury. I'm working hard to get back to my best form," said the left-back.

A key player on the team, especially in attack, the player is part of the red-and-black defense, which suffered a high number of goals in the qualifying round of the Guanabara Cup. But Juan, like all his teammates, believes this will be resolved as the games progress.

"We haven't found our playing style yet. Last year we only found our feet in September or October. I hope this year will be quicker and we can get into the swing of things in the competitions. But Flamengo is strong, with outstanding attackers who make a difference, and the work needs to be done just to improve the missing parts," he added.
