Juan scores his 31st goal for Flamengo
Defender scored the fourth goal for the red-black team against Portuguesa and his first after returning to the club

The victory against Portuguesa on Saturday night (11), in Volta Redonda, had a special flavor for defender Juan. In addition to achieving a consistent performance, completing 53 passes (100% success rate), the player also scored the fourth of the Mais Querido's five goals, the first since his return to Rubro-Negro and the 31st of his career with the Flamengo shirt, being two goals behind the club's greatest scoring defender, Júnior Baiano.
In nine years with the club, Juan has made 278 appearances for the red-and-black team. In 1996, his professional debut, the defender failed to score in 13 matches, but scored four times the following year in 36 appearances. In 1998, he scored just one goal in 29 appearances, and scored two in 1999 appearances in 17.
Juan's best seasons were his last three. In 2000, he appeared on the field 62 times, finding the back of the net seven times. In 2001, in the same number of matches, he scored nine goals, his best in a year playing for Flamengo. When he left in 2002, the defender had played 26 games and scored six goals.
Returning to the Mais Querido in 2016, the experienced player failed to make his mark in the 32 matches he played. A year later, Juan scored again for the red-and-black team. Against Portuguesa, the defender didn't let the opportunity slip away and, following a cross from Matheus Sávio, headed the ball straight into the net, scoring his first goal since 2002.
With the goal, Juan, who debuted at 16 and is now 37, reaches the incredible mark of 31 goals scored in his years with the Manto Sagrado.
