Juan reinforces his desire to stay at Flamengo
The left-back's contract ends at the end of the year, but the number 6 intends to renew his contract
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inAt the end of the year, left-back Juan's contract with Flamengo expires. But if it's up to the player, he's likely to renew. One of the Rubro-Negro's standout players for four seasons, the number six explained that he will only leave Gávea if he receives an offer that's advantageous not only for himself but also for the club.
According to Juan, Flamengo has already made initial contact seeking renewal.
"Flamengo has shown interest in renewing, and I'm taking everything calmly. I won't rush anything, and I won't do anything behind the club's back. I'll play fair, as I always have, and I'll seek the best for myself and the club. This is an important moment," he said.
The player doesn't hide the fact that his priority is to continue wearing the Flamengo shirt for a long time.
"The preference is renewal. I work thinking about defending Flamengo's colors and that is my priority. That's the focus. I'm thinking about Corinthians, then Ceará and so on. I always like to emphasize that it's only by working that I'll achieve something," he stated.
Praise for the reinforcement - Renato Abreu, who returned to Gávea after three seasons in Arab football, played with Juan between 2006 and 2007 and was highly praised for the left-back.
"He's a very important player, experienced and looking for the game. I had a good rapport with him during his last time here and I hope everything works out," he added.
