Last Sunday, Mengão took the lead in Group B of the competition with 13 points from six games. Coach Armênio Moura's team overcame Leme and thrashed their opponents 3-0 away from home, with goals from Galhardo, Saba, and Henrique. "It was a good match; the group proved they're improving with each game, and we hope to put in another strong performance on Wednesday at home against Bangu. Our goal is to reach the next round and fight for the OPG title," said goalkeeper Marcelo.

The victory also had a special flavor for the red-blacks, after all, in the first round of the competition this year, Leme beat Flamengo at Ninho do Urubu, 3-2.
